The European Union has agreed to impose sanctions on Israeli West Bank settlers and Hamas leaders, according to Al Jazeera. The agreement ends a months-long impasse after Hungary's new government withdrew its veto of the measures.

The sanctions target individuals involved in settlement expansion and violence in occupied Palestinian territories, as well as Hamas military and political figures. EU member states had previously been unable to reach consensus, with Budapest blocking approval.

The move marks a significant shift in EU policy coordination on Israeli-Palestinian issues and reflects growing pressure within the bloc to take concrete action against what rights groups describe as settlement expansion and Hamas operations.
