Kyrgyzstan has officially assumed the presidency of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TurkPA). The ceremony took place in the "Yrys-Ordo" congress hall in Bishkek during a meeting of the Assembly's Council, the Jogorku Kenesh press service reported.
The Chairman of Kazakhstan's Kurultai Aibek Dadebaev handed the symbolic gavel to Kyrgyzstan's Jogorku Kenesh speaker Marlen Mamataliey, marking the transfer of the presidency from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan.
Following the ceremony, the session continued under Mamataliey's leadership, as he presented the main priorities for Kyrgyzstan's tenure as president. "Cooperation between our countries should not only reflect our historical and cultural commonality, but also deliver concrete results capable of improving the everyday lives of citizens," the parliament speaker said.
Among the key priorities, he named the strengthening of legislation in the field of digital transformation and artificial intelligence, the development of transport and economic ties, and expanded youth participation in parliamentary activities. During the presidency, special attention is planned for issues of energy and food security.
