Team of 155 found no weapons in area indicated by FETÖ member Karatepe in Marmaris

In an operation coordinated by the Marmaris Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a 155-member large-scale team searched areas indicated by Burkay Karatepe, who is being tried as a FETÖ member, for weapons and ammunition. According to reports from Haberturk and Son Dakika, comprehensive search operations yielded no weapons or ammunition; the only object found was a tin can.

Hürriyet recalled that Karatepe had previously been identified as the most recently captured member of the assassination squad. The squad had targeted Marmaris, where then-President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was on vacation, on the night of the July 15, 2016 coup attempt. TRT Haber reported that the operation was launched based on claims that Karatepe had indicated the location of buried ammunition.

Yeni Şafak reported that searches were conducted for weapons allegedly hidden by the assassin. The failure to uncover concrete evidence in the search has cast serious doubt on the credibility of Karatepe's statements and the evidence-gathering process in ongoing FETÖ investigations.
