Kazakhstan introduces 86,500 tenge deposit for electronic queue booking at Uzbek border
From November 9, 2026, carriers booking slots at three checkpoints must maintain a guarantee payment in a special account — or the funds will go to the state budget.

Starting November 9, 2026, Kazakhstan is introducing a mandatory guarantee payment for international freight carriers booking electronic queues at three border crossings with Uzbekistan — Kazygurt, B. Konysbaev, and Atameken. The State Revenue Office of Turkestan Region announced the measure.
The payment amount is 20 monthly calculation indicators (MCI), or 86,500 tenge. The sum must be held in a special electronic account of the carrier at the time of slot booking.
If a vehicle arrives at the checkpoint at the designated time, the payment is automatically returned in full. However, if a carrier violates the time slot twice in a row within 90 calendar days, the guarantee sum is not returned and is transferred to the state budget.
The measure aims to reduce fictitious bookings, prevent illegal resale of electronic queues, and eliminate artificial congestion at the border. Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport recommends domestic carriers take the new rules into account when planning international freight operations.
