Trade turnover between Eurasian Economic Union member states and Uzbekistan exceeded $11 billion for January–July 2026. Uzbekistan accounted for 66% of the EAEU's aggregate trade with CIS countries not part of the union, according to the Eurasian Economic Commission.

"Uzbekistan is our primary trade partner among CIS countries that are not EAEU members," said Bakhytzhan Sagintyaev, chairman of the EEK board. According to him, trade turnover for the entire 2025 year reached $17.4 billion — 1.8 times higher than the 2020 level.

At Uzbekistan's initiative, an international agreement is being prepared on customs information exchange, designed to accelerate customs procedures, increase transparency of trade flows, and simplify operations for participants in foreign economic activity. The parties are also implementing a joint plan to align technical regulation systems.

Sagintyaev highlighted digital transformation as a promising area of cooperation — including electronic data exchange, digitalization of freight transport, and development of e-commerce. Kazakhstan designated these topics as priorities within its 2026 EAEU chairmanship.

Cooperation issues were discussed during Sagintyaev's talks with Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent on October 22. The EEK and Uzbekistan's government are completing a joint action plan for 2024–2026 and are beginning development of a new plan for the period through 2030. Uzbekistan has held observer status at the EAEU since 2020.
