Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan agree on power supply and Kambarata-1 construction
Energy ministers of the two countries discussed mutual supplies and electricity transit, winter preparation, construction of the Kambarata hydroelectric station-1, and strengthening Central Asia's energy security.

Uzbekistan's Energy Minister Sherzodbek Khojayev held talks on October 28 with Kyrgyzstan's Energy Minister Altynbek Rysbekov. The meeting focused on mutual electricity supplies and transit between the two countries, as well as joint preparation for the autumn-winter period — traditionally a stressful season for the region's power systems.
The construction of the Kambarata hydroelectric station-1 on the Naryn River occupied a separate place on the agenda — a major infrastructure project that, according to expert assessments, is capable of significantly influencing the electricity balance across all of Central Asia. The parties reviewed the current status of the project and prospects for its further advancement.
The ministers also discussed coordination of efforts to ensure reliable and stable operation of Central Asia's unified power system, increase its resilience to seasonal loads, and strengthen regional energy security in the long term.
Following the talks, both sides confirmed their interest in expanding practical cooperation and further developing strategic partnership in the energy sector.
