The Arab coalition led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced it intercepted a ballistic missile launched by Houthi forces toward Riyadh and destroyed it in the air.

Coalition spokesman Brigadier Turki Al-Maliki stated in a statement posted on the X platform that air defense systems countered the missile and brought it down before reaching its target. Al-Maliki added that a drone was also detected in the Eastern Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and was brought down.

The coalition provided no information regarding casualties or damage from the two attacks — and the absence of this confirmation in itself is a notable data point.

Yemen has been gripped by civil war since Iranian-backed Houthis seized the capital Sanaa and several provinces in September 2014. The Arab coalition has supported the internationally recognized Yemeni government in countering this takeover since March 2015.
