Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Russia violated the energy ceasefire announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, just hours after it was declared, when it launched a strike targeting a power station in Kharkiv that caused additional damage to Ukraine's electrical grid.

Trump announced on Sunday via social media: "Effective immediately, there is an energy ceasefire in the war between Russia and Ukraine. Both sides have agreed. Do not breach it!" However, Zelensky stated that Kyiv was not informed of the agreement in advance, while Moscow chose to remain silent in the hours following the announcement.

Speaking via video at the Warsaw Security Forum on Monday, Zelensky said: "We are willing if they are willing, and we have already proven that. Last night, Russian oil refineries did not catch fire, but at midnight a Russian Shahed drone struck a gas production facility in Ukraine with a jet engine."

Despite the violation, Zelensky pledged to abide by the agreement provided that Moscow does the same.

Three facts remain unresolved: Trump did not specify a mechanism for verifying the ceasefire, Moscow has not formally acknowledged the existence of an agreement, and it has not been revealed whether any implementation guarantees are in place.
