A drone belonging to the Sudanese military struck Tengong market in Domaiya district in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state, on the evening of Monday, October 26, 2026, resulting in the death of 102 civilians and injuries to 113 others, including children and women.

Emergency Lawyers, an organization documenting human rights violations in Sudan, announced these figures and held the Sudanese military responsible, calling for an independent investigation.

Doctors Without Borders reported that the attack occurred around 8 p.m. local time, noting that a second drone strike targeted an adjacent residential area. The organization confirmed that Nyala Teaching Hospital, which it supports, received 36 bodies, and that 21 of the deceased were wearing civilian clothing, while the number of wounded treated in the emergency department exceeded 150 people.

Del Koninckx, Doctors Without Borders project coordinator in Nyala, said the wounded were transported to the hospital by three-wheeled vehicles and donkey carts. He warned that the market is located in an area controlled by the Rapid Support Forces, emphasizing that markets, homes, and civilian infrastructure are not legitimate military targets, and called on all parties to the conflict to protect civilians.
