Egypt's National Defense Council Announces Full Support for Saudi Arabia
Cairo pledges to provide all possible forms of support to protect Riyadh's security and territorial integrity amid escalating attacks.
Egypt's National Defense Council announced, in a meeting chaired by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo, Egypt's complete solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its readiness to provide all necessary and possible forms of support to safeguard Riyadh's security, stability, and territorial integrity in the face of escalating attacks.
The Council, attended by the speakers of both chambers of Parliament, reviewed regional developments and field updates related to the attacks targeting the Kingdom. The statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic affirmed that Cairo will not backtrack from its support for Riyadh, based on the historical ties between the two countries and the close intertwining of Saudi, Egyptian, and Arab national security.
The Council pledged to provide all necessary assistance to protect the Kingdom's security, stability, and resources, as well as the integrity of its territory and Islamic holy sites. At the same time, it called for intensifying political and diplomatic efforts, in coordination with regional and international partners, with the aim of easing tensions and finding peaceful solutions to the ongoing crises.
The statement did not specify the nature of the attacks or name the party carrying them out — a deliberate reservation that must not be overstepped.
