11 people caught drifting in Ankara, fined 2 million TL

Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation into those engaging in drifting on public roads under the charge of 'endangering traffic safety' and took action. Teams from the Traffic Enforcement and Public Order Branch under the General Directorate of Security identified 11 suspects by scanning camera footage, tips, and social media posts.

In the operation, 12 vehicles were removed from traffic; a total administrative fine of 2 million 78 thousand lira was imposed on the suspects. The 11 accused brought before the court were released with a house arrest measure. Previous drift operations had been conducted in Ankara; however, the fines applied at that time remained in the hundreds of thousands of lira and did not exceed 2 million. What distinguishes this case from previous enforcement efforts is that it was conducted under the coordination of the Chief Prosecutor's Office and involved multiple branch directorates participating in the process simultaneously.
