Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced that a large-scale electricity transmission line project between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Syria is in negotiations. Speaking to an Anadolu Agency correspondent during the 25th World Petroleum Congress Energy Congress, Bayraktar described the project as a 'mega interconnection'.

The minister emphasized that crises and uncertainties in global energy markets have made cooperation between countries necessary, and said Turkey is also evaluating new cooperation opportunities with Libya, Iraq, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan.

Bayraktar cited Turkey's existing regional energy infrastructure weight through TANAP, TurkStream, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, and Iraq-Turkey oil pipelines, stating that the new project would be built on this accumulated experience.

The project represents one of the first concrete steps in integrating Syria into regional energy corridors in the post-Assad period; Syria's transmission network has suffered severe damage over the past decade. The project's feasibility study and timeline have not yet been shared with the public.
