Beykoz District Governor Bans Swimming on Black Sea Coast on August 13-14

The Beykoz District Governor, acting under Law No. 5442 on Provincial Administration, banned swimming at all beaches, shores, and coves along the district's Black Sea coast on Thursday, August 13 and Friday, August 14. The reason cited was high wave heights.

Beykoz, on Istanbul's Anatolian side, is one of the few districts with a Black Sea coastline. While similar bans have been issued in Kilyos for the broader Istanbul area, Beykoz's shores attract heavy visitor traffic during summer months, particularly at coves like Riva and Çayağzı. August 13 falls among the busiest days of mid-August — the ban comes just before the weekend.

The District Governor warned that administrative sanctions will be applied to residents who enter the sea despite the ban. It was also noted that if conditions do not improve after the evening of August 14, when the ban expires, additional measures may be taken.
