Beykoz District Bans Swimming in the Black Sea on August 13-14

The Beykoz District Governorate, citing high wave conditions, has banned swimming at all beaches, strands, and coves along the district's Black Sea coastline on Thursday, August 13 and Friday, August 14, under the authority of Law No. 5442 on Provincial Administration.

Beykoz, on the Anatolian side of Istanbul, is one of the few districts with a Black Sea coastline. Although similar bans have been issued for Istanbul as a whole at Kilyos, Beykoz's shores attract heavy visitor traffic during summer months, particularly at coves such as Riva and Çayağzı. August 13 is among the busiest days of mid-August — the ban coincides precisely with the weekend.

The District Governorate warned that administrative sanctions will be applied to citizens who enter the sea despite the ban. It was also noted that if conditions do not improve after the evening of August 14 when the ban expires, additional measures may be taken.
