A second wave of operations has begun in the investigation into "tender rigging," "embezzlement," and "organized crime" being conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the CHP-affiliated Etimesgut Municipality. As part of the operation, 25 people were detained, including two deputy mayors of the municipality.

The operation commenced approximately two and a half months after the first wave. In the first wave on July 30, 55 suspects were detained in simultaneous raids across 9 provinces; 40 people were arrested, including Etimesgut Mayor Erdal Beşikcioğlu. In that operation, 42 municipal officials and 13 company executives were targeted.

Beşikcioğlu has been in custody since July. Following the new detentions, the suspects are expected to be referred to the Ankara on-duty peace criminal court.
