The imposition of a government-appointed trustee at Halk TV and the suspension of the channel's broadcast have drawn widespread coverage from international news agencies.

Reuters reported that Turkish police raided the opposition broadcaster's headquarters, describing the incident as one of the latest interventions against press freedom in Turkey. AFP wrote that independent journalism in Turkey may be on the verge of disappearing. AP stressed that Halk TV is one of the few broadcasters in Turkey not under government control, and drew attention to the broader decline in press freedom.

BBC Turkish reported directly on the trustee appointment and the suspension of news broadcasts. Greek newspaper Kathimerini covered the story under the headline 'the latest blow to media freedom,' while Spanish news agency EFE described Halk TV as 'the country's largest opposition television channel.'

Halk TV had previously faced a broadcast suspension imposed by RTÜK in 2022; on this occasion, however, the trustee appointment went further — directly replacing the channel's management. Euronews Turkish also confirmed that broadcasting had been halted.
