The Interior Ministry, which compiled data from the Directorate General of Police and the General Command of the Gendarmerie for the period January 1–October 8, 2026, announced that the number of incidents across nine major crime categories against property fell from the 2021–2025 five-year average of 219,337 to 152,452 this year. According to figures cited by Anadolu Agency, the decline rate is 30.5%.

The picture is sharper in eight crime categories excluding fraud: the total number of incidents dropped from 111,170 to 37,732—a decline of 66.1%. In contrast, fraud incidents rose from the five-year average of 108,167 to 114,720, an increase of 6.1%; this rise represents the only increase category in property crimes.

Clearance rates also changed: in property crimes they rose from 78.2% to 92%, and in crimes against persons from 97.7% to 99.4%.

During the same period, 514,828 incidents were recorded across 10 major crime categories against persons; this figure is 11.4% below the 2021–2025 average of 580,892.

Given that fraud rates increased continuously during the 2021–2025 period, this year's increase shows the trend has not been reversed. The Interior Ministry noted it will separately share detailed data on individual crime categories, including intentional homicide.
