With the newly enacted regulation, wounded veterans who were previously unable to receive monthly payments because they did not reach the disability threshold have now gained the right to regular income. In the same package, additional rights for families of the fallen were also expanded; according to reports from Memurlar.Net and Habertürk, the details of the regulation were announced by Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş.
Until now, the legislation in force excluded wounded veterans whose disability rate fell below the established threshold from monthly payments. The new regulation closes this gap and brings into the system thousands of people who had historically been left out.
How many people the regulation covers, the amount of monthly payments, and the payment start date have not yet been officially announced in numerical terms. A detailed announcement from the Social Security Institution regarding the implementation timeline is awaited.
