A key beneath the Capricorn Moon: the weight in our pocket as we enter the week

The Libra Sun still weighs the scales, the Capricorn Moon grows. We read the week through a single object — an old house key.

In the back corner of the kitchen drawer, beneath the spoons, there is a brass key. No one quite remembers which door it opened. Perhaps the first house of a grandmother in Gaziantep, perhaps a summer home in Izmir, perhaps a flat that was never moved into. This week, the heavens revolve around such an object: things that once belonged somewhere, then became ownerless, yet couldn't be thrown away.

The Libra Sun at 23 degrees, still slowly weighing the scales. The Moon growing in Capricorn — now at forty-nine percent illumination — reminds us of what is concrete: emotion is a beautiful thing, but what can you hold in your hand? That key is its symbol. Once it was function, now it is memory. In the first half of the week, a similar reckoning awaits us. Closets, phone directories, membership fees we still pay, grudges we still harbor — which one truly opens a door, and which is merely weight?

Mercury and Venus in Scorpio deepen the matter. Venus is moving backward; meaning an old relationship, an old home, an old city might fall from our pocket like a key. This falling is not bad. It simply wants to be looked at. With whom did we quarrel, and why; which table do we miss; which debt — not material, but emotional — do we still carry. Around midweek, Wednesday or Thursday, such a conversation may knock on the door. There is no need to be ready; honesty is enough.

Mars and Jupiter in Leo give a different voice: courage, visibility, the desire to step onto the stage. Saturn, continuing its backward motion in Aries, applies the brake — "check the foundation first," it says. There is a balance between the two this week. Do not rush into a new job, a new project, a new promise; but do not postpone it entirely either. Take a step, then stop and look. Hold the key in your hand first, feel its weight before putting it in the lock.

Toward the end of the week, the Capricorn Moon will move into Aquarius and the air will lighten a little. The full moon on October 26 is already waiting at the shore; with it, something unsaid will be spoken, or something already said will finally be heard.

You do not have to throw the key away. But this week, at the very least, put it in the front of the drawer. In a visible place. If you remember which door it belonged to — all the better. If you don't, brass is still a beautiful metal; it holds the light.
