In the Dağlıoğlu neighborhood of Seyhan district in Adana, on October 19 at 5:30 p.m., A.E., one of two people who arrived by motorcycle, shot 15-year-old Nurmuhammet Musaoğlu in the head with a pistol as the boy sat at the cash register of a cleaning supply store. The suspect was captured on security cameras wearing a ski mask; after firing, he escaped on the motorcycle with an accomplice who was waiting. Musaoğlu, seriously wounded, was taken by nearby residents by car to Adana City Training and Research Hospital; the child was admitted to intensive care, and his condition was reported to remain life-threatening.

Homicide Bureau teams examined security camera footage and apprehended A.E. at an address on Turhan Cemal Beriker Boulevard in Seyhan district after determining he was preparing to flee to Mersin. The suspect was remanded in custody at his court hearing. Police continue efforts to apprehend the motorcycle driver who helped him escape and A.A., who is alleged to have incited the incident.

Investigation suggests that Nurmuhammet Musaoğlu was shot because of a debt owed by his older brother Ümit Musaoğlu, and that suspect A.E. was directed by A.A., to whom Ümit Musaoğlu owed money.

Following the attack, the family waiting outside the hospital received threatening messages from people alleged to have incited the incident. The messages contained statements such as 'Whoever greets you, we will shoot them too. Wait outside the hospital, we will shoot you in two hours.'

Ercüment Musaoğlu, a father of six children, stated that despite the suspect's arrest, death threats continue and that the incident did not stem from a debt matter. Musaoğlu said, 'No one owes me a single lira. I sold my land and house so nothing would happen to my family and children, and I gave them 7-8 million lira. Last year they fired bullets into my shop over extortion. They are still demanding money, and despite that I am receiving death threats.' Musaoğlu emphasized that his last remaining house was demanded, and when he refused, they shot his son, saying 'When I said I had no money left to give, they fired at my innocent 15-year-old child.'

Musaoğlu pointed to the threatening messages the family received outside the hospital, saying 'While my son has been struggling for his life in the hospital for nine days, I am still receiving threatening messages. We cannot wait at a red light in our car, we cannot go home. Let no other 15-year-old Nurmuhammet die.'
