Former Bulgarian MP and businessman Slavi Binev died on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. in his luxury home in Sofia's Pavlovo neighborhood (Gordova Glava district) from a single bullet wound to the head. A house employee heard gunshots from the living room and found Binev lying on the floor in a pool of blood, then called police.

Police determined from security camera footage and witness statements that three people claiming to work in construction had arrived at Binev's home. One and a half hours after the murder, police units stopped the vehicle in which the perpetrators had fled at kilometer 54 of the Thrace Highway outside Sofia (near the Trayanovi Vrata/Trajan Gate tunnel); Eyüp T., Yusuf T., and İbryam Y. were taken into custody in the vehicle. Two firearms believed to have been used in the murder were recovered from the car.

During police interrogation, Eyüp T., who confessed to his role, claimed they did not go there with the intention to kill: "The purpose of the meeting was to resolve commercial projects and the financial dispute between us. However, the debt issue turned into a disagreement, Binev became physically aggressive, and the situation got out of control," he said.

Investigations revealed that businessman Eyüp T. and Binev had previously formed a real estate development partnership, but had been involved in a large-scale financial dispute for an extended period.
