Agriculture Ministry bans 'flavored' claims and misleading visuals in food products

New food labeling regulations from the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry have made sweeping changes mandatory for product packaging and restaurant menus. According to Cumhuriyet Gazette, the regulations prohibit the use of consumer-misleading phrases such as "...flavored" on food products, as well as visuals that do not reflect actual contents.

Restaurant menus now must clearly display the content information and calorie value for each item. This step aims particularly to enhance consumer safety regarding allergen-containing products and strengthen transparency in the food sector.

The regulation directly affects both packaged food manufacturers and food service establishments. Sanctions will be imposed on businesses that do not comply with the new rules. The changes directly concern millions of consumers across Turkey.
