According to data from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, 484,561 of the 1.15 million companies operating in the country in 2025 posted losses; this represents 42 percent of total firms. Sözcü Gazetesi reported that concordat applications and factory closures are accelerating under the pressure of high interest rates and inflation.
In the ready-to-wear sector, TYH Tekstil Board Chairman Selçuk Mehmet Kaya announced that they were forced to close 7 of their 13 factories and that the workforce declined from 6,900 to 1,900. Earlier, a Kayseri-based company with a 73-year history, the Central Anatolian firm also shut down its denim production facility along with 1,500 employees, which had supplied brands including Diesel, Replay, Guess, Mustang, and Levi's.
On the concordat front, the definitive deadlines of Konil Kağıt Sanayi, the company of Gaziantep businessman Ali Konukoğlu, and Exim Fresh Gıda Sanayi, which exports to 35 countries, were lifted and their concordat petitions were rejected. Nazilli and Surroundings Agricultural Development Cooperative, which has been operating in Aydın since 1979 and has more than 4,000 member producers, filed an application with the court.
The number of companies trading on the close monitoring market at Borsa İstanbul, where financially troubled firms are listed, rose to 19.
