Floods and hail strike farmers in Tokat; Chamber of Agriculture moves to assess damage

Extreme rainfall, hail, and flooding across Tokat city center and surrounding districts have left significant damage to agricultural land. The Tokat Chamber of Agriculture announced that it will closely monitor the process to ensure damage assessment is completed quickly and fairly in the wake of the destruction. Cumhuriyet newspaper reported that the chamber conveyed the message: "We stand with our farmers with all our resources."

The extreme weather events, which coincided with a critical period of the agricultural production season, are reported to have caused serious losses in regional crops — particularly grains and vegetables. Once damage assessment is complete, applications to relevant government bodies are planned to enable farmers to access state support.

Similar weather events have been observed to be occurring with increasing frequency in the region in recent years, with agricultural losses growing steadily.
