Bishkek is hosting a cycle of cultural events marking the 100th anniversary of professional Kyrgyz theater, according to the Ministry of Culture, Information and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan.

From October 26 to 30, the XIV Republican Theater Festival will take place, dedicated to the memory of legendary Culture Minister Kuliypa Konduchalovas. Ten theaters selected by an expert committee will each present one production. The opening ceremony will be held on October 26 at 15:00 at the Kyrgyz National Academic Drama Theater named after Toktobolot Abdumomounov; the closing ceremony will take place on October 30 at 17:00 at the same venue.

On October 29, the State National Russian Drama Theater named after Chingiz Aitmatov will host an out-of-competition screening of a production by students from Kyrgyzstan studying at GITIS.

Theater processions with concert programs are planned in Bishkek's parks, featuring creative groups that did not make the main festival program. Puppet theaters have prepared fairy-tale performances for preschool and school-age children. Leading directors will conduct master classes for actors at the Kyrgyz National Academic Theater named after Abdumomounov.

On November 2, a scientific conference and formal centennial celebration will be held at T. Usubaliyev Square.
