Kyrgyz Film 'Kurmanjan Datka. Queen of the Mountains' Screened for First Time in Argentina

The feature film 'Kurmanjan Datka. Queen of the Mountains' directed by Sadyk Sher-Niyaz was shown to an Argentine audience for the first time. According to the Eurasian Creative Guild (London), for many viewers the screening offered a genuine introduction to this chapter of Kyrgyzstan's history. The event was organized with support from the Yunus Emre Institute in Buenos Aires.

The event also featured the English-language book *Kurmanjan Datka: Queen of the Mountains* by Kyrgyz author Bubaishy Arstanbekova, published by London's Hertfordshire Press. Participants heard about the work behind the English edition and how the book helps international readers gain a deeper understanding of Kyrgyzstan's history and the figure of Kurmanjan Datka.

The Eurasian Creative Guild noted that Kyrgyzstan is the first Central Asian country to be included in this large-scale international cultural project. A series of screenings and presentations will continue across other Latin American countries — building toward the milestone 15th Open Eurasian Book Forum & Literature Festival, which will be held in Argentina for the first time in October 2027.

The next event in the series is scheduled for September, when audiences will see the feature film *Crying Steppe* by Kazakh director Irina Kunarova.
