Uzbekistan Proposes Raising Discounted Electricity Limit to 350 kWh for Non-Gasified Areas
Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Khurshid Mustafaev announced the proposal at a press conference on October 14.

Uzbekistan's Ministry of Economy and Finance is proposing to increase the baseline monthly electricity consumption limit from 200 to 350 kWh for residents in areas not connected to gas networks or receiving gas supply irregularly.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Khurshid Mustafaev announced the proposal at a press conference on October 14, dedicated to planned tariff changes and household support measures for the autumn-winter period.
Mustafaev cited two grounds for the initiative. The first is the existing support mechanism for low-income families: the Social Protection Agency compensates them for the difference between baseline and higher tariffs on an additional 150 kWh beyond the current 200 kWh limit. The second is analysis of winter consumption in non-gasified areas: according to the presented data, approximately 60% of households in such areas consume up to 300 kWh per month.
