The FBI, in cooperation with the Secret Service and the Criminal Investigation Division of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, has determined that the North Korean hacker group TraderTraitor stole more than 6 billion dollars from the cryptocurrency exchange Binance.

The Binance breach became known on October 30. According to estimates, the damage amounts to $6.3 billion—analysts believe this could become the largest cryptocurrency theft in history.

According to the FBI, members of the hacker group are converting stolen assets into other cryptocurrencies—primarily Ethereum (ETH). The funds are expected to then be laundered through DeFi services and instant exchangers.

The FBI published addresses of more than 600 cryptocurrency wallets and called on blockchain node operators and instant exchange services to block transactions linked to these accounts.
