Forest fire in Aydın's Kuyucak district: 11 helicopters, 220 personnel deployed

A forest fire broke out around 2 p.m. in a wooded area near Gencelli village, part of Kuyucak district in Aydın. According to reports, the fire — spreading rapidly due to wind — has prompted the deployment of 11 helicopters and 6 aircraft from the air, along with 40 all-terrain vehicles, 5 water tankers, and 3 dozers from the ground; a total of 220 personnel are actively operating in the region.

The mountainous and steep terrain is slowing the advancement of ground teams, while air operations form the backbone of the response effort. Officials stated that the fire remains uncontrolled and teams continue their efforts.

Gencelli village is located approximately 12 kilometres south of Kuyucak district center. The region experienced short-duration forest fires during last summer; however, this is the first time such a large-scale deployment of combined air and ground forces has been mobilized.
