Dalaman Mayor Sezer Durmuş Resigns from CHP Along with 11 Council Members to Join YENİ Party

Dalaman Mayor Sezer Durmuş resigned from the CHP and joined YENİ Party along with 11 municipal council members. At a ceremony held in front of the YENİ Party Dalaman District Headquarters, the party badge was pinned on Durmuş by YENİ Party Deputy Chairman and Muğla Deputy Gizem Özcan.

The ceremony was also attended by YENİ Party Founding Provincial Chairman Nail Kızıl, Yatağan Mayor Mesut Günay, muhtars, business people, and representatives of civil society organizations.

Dalaman is one of Muğla's major tourist districts and hosts an international airport. The majority of the municipal council switching from the CHP to YENİ Party directly alters the balance of power in the district assembly. The CHP had won Dalaman in the 2024 local elections; this mass resignation represents a significant loss that narrows the party's municipal base in Muğla.
