Gençlerbirliği put the away section tickets for its Fenerbahçe match on Saturday, August 15 in Ankara on sale at 5,200 lira. The decision drew sharp backlash from yellow-and-navy supporters on social media.
Gençlerbirliği President Arda Çakmak defended the price in comments to HT Spor. Çakmak recalled that last season 5,000 lira was applied for the Galatasaray away fixture and 3,750 lira for the Beşiktaş away fixture, and no objections were raised. Home supporters will pay 4,000 lira for tickets.
The entire goal-line section was allocated to away supporters; 4,700 Fenerbahçe supporters will attend the match. Çakmak emphasized that when inflation is taken into account, the figure could be even higher. VIP block prices were set separately. Fenerbahçe supporters had sold tickets below this amount last season when they were in the home position in Istanbul for the same fixture.
