Gençlerbirliği has put away section tickets for its August 15 Saturday evening match against Fenerbahçe in Ankara on sale for 5,200 lira. The decision drew sharp criticism from yellow-and-navy supporters on social media.
Gençlerbirliği Chairman Arda Çakmak defended the price in comments to HT Spor, arguing it was not high. Çakmak recalled that last season 5,000 lira was charged for the Galatasaray away match and 3,750 lira for the Beşiktaş away match, and there were no complaints. Home supporters' tickets are priced at 4,000 lira.
The entire goal-line section has been allocated to away supporters, with 4,700 Fenerbahçe fans set to attend the match. Çakmak emphasized that when inflation is factored in, the figure could be even higher. VIP block prices were set separately. Last season, when Fenerbahçe was in the home position for the same match in Istanbul, the club sold tickets to Gençlerbirliği supporters at a lower rate than this.
