Tractor rolls off cliff in Mersin: 10-year-old Mert Can Koçak killed

A tractor rolled off a cliff on the first day of Eid al-Adha in Silifke district of Mersin; 10-year-old Mert Can Koçak died in the accident, while his father Yılmaz Koçak, who was operating the vehicle, was injured.

According to Cumhuriyet Gazette, the incident occurred in a rural area near Silifke. Following the tractor losing control and rolling off the cliff, the lifeless body of Mert Can Koçak, who was in the vehicle, was found at the scene. Father Yılmaz Koçak was removed from the scene injured and taken to hospital. Details regarding Koçak's health condition have not yet been clarified.

Following a report, gendarmerie and health teams were dispatched to the area. It was reported that Silifke Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the accident.

During the Eid al-Adha holiday, authorities reminded that officials warned drivers nationwide against traffic accidents. The accident in Silifke added another incident to the traffic accidents that occurred during the holiday period.
