A tragic incident occurred in Akçaabat district of Trabzon on the first day of Eid al-Adha when 2-year-old Miran Mehmet Yılmaz fell from a 5th-floor balcony of the apartment where his family was staying. According to Cumhuriyet newspaper, the incident took place in the early morning hours of the holiday.
Medical teams dispatched to the scene provided initial care at the location; however, Miran Mehmet Yılmaz, who was transported to the hospital with severe injuries, could not be saved. On the same day, Akçaabat district also lost 54-year-old Selahattin Şener, who suffered a heart attack during the ritual animal slaughter, leaving the district shaken by two separate deaths on the first day of the holiday.
According to Cumhuriyet, an investigation has been launched into the circumstances of the child's fall. The prosecutor's office is investigating the safety condition of the balcony and the full circumstances of the incident.
