According to Anadolu Agency, Ali Hamza Pehlivan, head of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), announced that the evacuation of over 4,000 households in Tokat province due to flooding risk has been completed. According to Pehlivan, approximately 15,000 citizens from these evacuated households have been relocated to safe areas.
As a precautionary measure in response to intensified rainfall in the region and rising river levels, residents from the most at-risk neighborhoods of Tokat were systematically relocated. AFAD stated that it received assistance from fire, police, and military units during the evacuation process.
Government spokespeople said that citizens in temporary shelter areas are being provided with basic necessities and that health services continue to be provided without interruption. Based on meteorological data, the flooding risk in the region is expected to decrease within the next 48 hours.
