Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Western countries are pressuring states in order to prevent purchases of Russian oil. According to him, the goal of this policy is to redirect demand toward expensive American oil and liquefied natural gas.
Lavrov did not provide specific examples of the pressure being applied. The Russian minister's statement appears to be a response to international sanctions against the Russian energy sector that were introduced after February 2022.
