CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Gürsel Tekin taken to court for removal from office

The CHP's trustee Istanbul Provincial Chair Gürsel Tekin has been taken to court for removal from office. Gazete's report, Tekin was sued for dismissal over his handling of the 'extra roles casting agency' scandal in Istanbul. Since Tekin was appointed to his position by Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance ruling, his removal also requires a court decision.

When CHP central management could not overcome this legal obstacle, it decided to unofficially appoint former Kağıthane district chair Mehmet Ali Yüksel in Tekin's place. Under this decision, Tekin will not be recognized as the authority.

Meanwhile, it was announced that the case filed seeking annulment of the CHP's 38th Ordinary Istanbul Provincial Congress will be heard on October 16. If no new court ruling emerges by that date, Tekin will continue to remain in office. Tekin himself limited his response to the matter by saying "I have no information, I am at my post." It was also reported that Tekin's conduct during the MYK meeting caused discomfort among Kılıçdaroğlu and MYK members.
