In operations coordinated between the Gendarmerie General Command's Counter-Narcotics Department and Chief Prosecutors' Offices in 28 provinces, 96 suspects were detained; 69 of them were arrested and 27 were placed under judicial supervision.
According to figures released by the Interior Ministry, the operations resulted in the seizure of 104 kilograms of narcotics and 294,000 drug pills. Illegally cultivated 2 million 200 thousand cannabis and skunk plants were destroyed.
A total of 7,956 personnel served in 1,326 narcotics and public order units deployed to the field. Within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that suspects sold narcotics through social media and messaging applications and engaged in organized cannabis cultivation.
In a similar large-scale gendarmerie operation last year, 73 people had been arrested; this operation surpassed the previous one in terms of the number of arrests.
