Russia's Lavrov Demands UN Secretariat Reform, Alleges Western Monopoly

Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called for reforming the UN Secretariat, arguing it has been "effectively privatized by a single group of countries."

Lavrov's remarks reflect Moscow's broader push for restructuring UN institutions to increase representation of what Russia terms the "Global South and East." The criticism aligns with Russian efforts to challenge Western dominance in international forums.

Lavrov has also expressed support for Brazil and India's ambitions to secure permanent membership on the UN Security Council, part of a coordinated challenge to the current permanent five-member structure dominated by Western powers.
