CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has responded to allegations contained in testimony that detained Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım gave to prosecutors.
Yalım had allegedly claimed, under active-remorse cooperation provisions, that he provided Özel with financial and vehicle support. Özel dismissed the allegations as a deliberate "discrediting" operation.
The detained mayor also faces embezzlement charges. Özel's statement has surfaced further dimensions of the fractious intra-CHP dispute. As legal proceedings continue, the war of words between the two sides shows no sign of abating.
