Duty-free electric vehicles in Kyrgyzstan cannot be resold abroad

Electric vehicles imported into Kyrgyzstan under a duty-free quota are not subject to resale and re-export to other EAEU countries. This was announced at a press conference by Sultan Akhmatov, deputy minister of economy and commerce.

The additional quota of 10,000 vehicles approved by the Eurasian Economic Commission has been allocated exclusively to meet domestic demand and is not distributed among major importers. Any Kyrgyz citizen will be able to exercise the right to duty-free import in order of a general queue based on customs registration.

Deregistering a vehicle for resale outside the republic will be impossible without paying the full customs tariff of 15%, Akhmatov emphasized.

According to the ministry, approximately 500 electric vehicles are currently stored in temporary storage warehouses; records are maintained by the State Customs Service.
