Duty-free electric vehicles in Kyrgyzstan cannot be resold abroad

Electric vehicles imported into Kyrgyzstan under a duty-free quota cannot be resold or re-exported to other EAEU countries. This was stated at a press conference by Sultan Akhmatov, deputy minister of economy and commerce.

The additional quota of 10,000 vehicles approved by the Eurasian Economic Commission has been allocated exclusively to meet domestic demand and is not distributed among major importers. Any Kyrgyzstani citizen will be able to take advantage of duty-free import rights in order of general queue according to customs registration.

Removing a vehicle from registration for resale outside the republic will be impossible without paying the full customs tariff of 15%, Akhmatov emphasized.

According to the ministry, approximately 500 electric vehicles are currently stored in temporary storage warehouses; the State Customs Service maintains the records.
