A Greater Anglia passenger train derailed at Wickford station in Essex, marking the second such incident in England within two consecutive days.
British Transport Police reported that the rear carriages of the train became separated from the track, confirming that the train remained upright and no injuries were recorded. The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) announced that it was dispatching a team of inspectors to the site to gather evidence. A spokesperson for the Department for Transport addressed the incident and confirmed the same details.
There were between 40 and 45 passengers on the train at the time of the incident.
This incident comes a day after a Southern Railway passenger train derailed between Haywards Heath and Lewes in East Sussex, in which 20 people were injured, including two with serious injuries.
