Dalaman Mayor Sezer Durmuş Resigns from CHP with 11 Council Members, Joins YENİ Party

Dalaman Mayor Sezer Durmuş resigned from the CHP and joined YENİ Party alongside 11 municipal council members. At a ceremony held in front of the YENİ Party Dalaman District Headquarters, the party badge was pinned on Durmuş by YENİ Party Deputy Chair and Muğla MP Gizem Özcan.

The ceremony was attended by YENİ Party Founding Provincial Chair Nail Kızıl, Yatağan Mayor Mesut Günay, muhtar officials, businessmen, and representatives of civil society organizations.

Dalaman is one of Muğla's important tourist districts and hosts an international airport. The majority defection from the CHP to YENİ Party in the municipality directly alters the balance of power in the district assembly. The CHP won Dalaman in the 2024 local elections; this collective resignation represents a significant loss that narrows the party's municipal base in Muğla.
