Retired senior NCOs launch march from Kayseri to Ankara: 'Give us our rights'

A group of retired senior non-commissioned officers, led by Turkish Retired Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Association (TEMUD) General Chairman Ali Tilkici, set out from Kayseri to launch a march they named 'Heroes on the Road.' Gazette reporting, the group plans to reach Ankara on August 30 and present their demands to relevant institutions.

Retired senior NCOs are demanding that their salaries be raised to a level befitting human dignity, that additional compensation be provided, and that they be granted 3,600 supplementary indicators. The marchers emphasized that they have been forced to work again after retirement in order to make a living.

Meanwhile, military veterans who have been conducting a sit-in protest at Ankara Güvenpark for 20 days have received no visits from the ruling coalition. TEMUD Chairman Tilkici summarized the purpose of the march, saying, 'Yesterday we kept our vigil for the homeland with honor; today we demand our rights.'
