2 police officers detained in Gülistan Doku investigation, bringing total detainees in case to 27

The judicial proceedings for 5 suspects apprehended in simultaneous operations conducted across 16 provinces on July 27 under orders from the Erzurum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office have been completed. The suspects, detained as part of the investigation into Gülistan Doku, a university student missing from Tunceli since January 5, 2020, were referred to the Erzurum Courthouse following health examinations. After statement procedures at the prosecutor's office, 4 of the suspects were brought before the duty misdemeanor judge.

The court ordered the detention of 2 of the 4 suspects while releasing the other 2 with travel ban and judicial supervision measures. It was learned that the 2 detained suspects were police officers. The fifth suspect's statement proceedings at the prosecutor's office were reported to be ongoing. With the latest detentions, the number of detainees in the case has risen to 27 under the investigation conducted with coordination between the Erzurum and Tunceli Chief Public Prosecutors' Offices. The case, which has remained unresolved for over four years, continues to hold its place on the public agenda.
