Huawei Announces New Chip Design Strategy to Circumvent US Sanctions

Chinese technology company Huawei has unveiled a new chip design strategy aimed at circumventing the constraints created by US sanctions. According to the Turkish daily Cumhuriyet, the company has opted to build its own independent chip design infrastructure in the face of blocked access to advanced semiconductor technologies.

Huawei has been unable to source from leading chip manufacturers, particularly TSMC, due to comprehensive US export restrictions in place since 2019. The company's move is expected to directly impact global semiconductor competition.

Turkey represents an important market for Huawei in terms of infrastructure investments.
