The Directorate General of Meteorology and the Istanbul Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) have issued a warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain that will affect the entire Marmara Region. According to reporting by Cumhuriyet Newspaper, the hot and fair weather dominating Istanbul on the first day of the holiday will give way to heavy rainfall in a short time.
AKOM listed at-risk districts individually and called on citizens to exercise caution. The warning specifically drew attention to the risk of flooding and water inundation.
