Türksat 3A to 6A transition: TV broadcasts moving to new satellite on night of August 15-16

The broadcasting mission carried out by Türksat 3A satellite since 2008 will end on the night of August 15-16, 2026; all television channels are being transferred to the new high-capacity satellite.

On televisions equipped with TKGS (Türksat Channel Update System), the transition will occur automatically. Users with older model satellite receivers, however, will need to perform manual network rescanning. Two different frequency parameters have been defined for rescanning: 12380 MHz / Vertical / 27500 symbol rate or 12423 MHz / Horizontal / 30000 symbol rate.

It is noted that the satellite dish orientation will not need to change; only the receiver settings will require updating.

Millions of households in Turkey watch satellite broadcasts; according to satellite sector records, the percentage of households watching broadcasts through Türksat is running above 60 percent, particularly in rural areas where cable and IPTV infrastructure is weak. For this segment, failure to perform the update in a timely manner could result in loss of signal.
