Cargo flow at the Kyrgyz-Chinese border checkpoint Torugart has surged roughly 50% — from 359 trucks per day in the first half of 2026 to 538 in October, according to Kyrgyzstan's State Customs Service.

The increase was achieved following comprehensive process optimization: in July 2026, six new cargo transport lanes were introduced into operation, and an "Intelligent Border Checkpoint" (IBC) system was implemented. The system manages truck movement from arrival in a designated zone through to direction onto appropriate lanes, enabling distribution of transport flows and reducing the likelihood of congestion.

Additionally, the sequence of customs procedures was reviewed and duplicate stages were eliminated. According to the customs service information system, the average time for all types of state control — provided the carrier has all necessary documentation — now stands at approximately 10 minutes.
